Let me take the opportunity to welcome you to The Harvath Directive. This has truly been a labor of love, love for a nation, but most of all love for our warriors.  Our sons, daughters, husbands and wives, friends and co-workers.  Those who have stepped forward to protect our way of life, to protect our freedom.

The pride we feel is like no other.  To know that our loved ones are making the ultimate sacrifice to protect all that we hold dear and sometimes take for granted, our freedom.

It is in recognition of this ultimate sacrifice that THD was created.  We have come together to do a little for those who do so much day in and day out.  We do it with so much love that words alone will never express how we feel to be doing what we are doing.

We have let our soldiers know time and time again that “WE” have not forgotten about them, that we love them more today than ever before. The knowledge that we have helped liven the spirit and morale of our heroes with something as simple as a box of books is undoubtedly one of the best feelings in the world.

It’s truly incredible to see a dream become a reality.  But thanks to perseverance, persistence and incredible support from those who love our troops as much as I do The Harvath Directive has become a reality.  A reality for our soldiers to reap its benefits.

I thank you for your support, for supporting our troops, for supporting something that was my dream and has now become our reality.  May God bless this endeavor but most importantly may He bless each and every one of our soldiers, our warriors.

The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike and yet notwithstanding, go out and meet it.

Sincerely,

Carlos S. Jimenez

As Americans, we know how precious freedom is.  We also know that in order to assure that it never perishes from the face of the earth it must be safeguarded twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three-hundred-and-sixty-five days a year.

Upon some of the most inhospitable terrain and often under the severest of conditions, we are blessed by an all-volunteer force facing down the enemies of freedom on a daily basis so that we may continue to live in the greatest country in the world.

These valiant men and women ask nothing in return from us, but don’t they deserve something more than just a paycheck?  Don’t they deserve to know how grateful we are for their service?

We think so and that is why The Harvath Directive was created.  Through this project, we are giving back to our courageous men and women in the armed forces.  Whether they are in the field or recuperating in a military hospital, our goal is to provide all of them with gifts of books (both printed and audio).

With every book you help us send, you will be saying thank you.  Thank you for your patriotism.  Thank you for your dedication.  And thank you for keeping us safe.

Please consider becoming part of The Harvath Directive to both say thank you and to provide wonderful reading opportunities for America’s greatest heroes, our troops.

Respectfully,

Brad Thor

Please note (3/7/11):  We have reached a comfortable level of inventory and are not in need of further book donations at this time.  Once again we would like to take an opportunity to thank our donors for their generosity!!

With the blessings of #1 NY Times Bestselling author Brad Thor, The Harvath Directive was created in 2007 by a former Armed Services member. It is so titled in honor of the main character of Mr. Thor's novels – Scot Harvath. The Harvath Directive was established with one purpose in mind: supporting our American warriors abroad fighting for our way of life and freedom. Its intention is to show our appreciation for their immense sacrifice. To liven their day with a book and spread the joy of reading. With our soldiers in mind, it's our way of showing that we care and we support them.

What do we do?

We collect books: hardbacks, paperbacks and audiobooks to send to our troops abroad on the front lines and to those injured and in military hospitals.

To date over 2,500 donated books have been sent to our troops abroad - both on the front lines and in military hospitals - to places like Afghanistan, Germany and Iraq. As well as Fort Knox, KY and  Walter Reed Medical Center here in the US.

Where do they go?

Military Medical Centers: Hardcovers and audiobooks (for those troops unable to read due to injuries) are sent to military medical centers here in the USA and abroad to be given to our wounded soldiers to enjoy during their hospital stay. Paperback books are also sent to those medical centers that have libraries.

Individual Armed Services Personnel and Bases Overseas: Paperbacks are sent to the front lines to various military libraries as well as to individual soldiers.

Thank You

Thank you very much for your support. We truly hope to turn this into a positive means to help our troops forget about their trials and tribulations for just a few moments. To transport them on an awesome adventure by exposing them to the novels of Brad Thor and other top-notch authors.

Once again, we would like to thank Brad Thor for his continued support.   Not only is he a fantastic and talented writer, he is a true patriot and a gentleman.  Brad, you are the best!
